Some of my work...

For my current project in uni we had to create a Brand. My brands core is Power Play. i want to crate Garments for people who have to look smart and professional in what they do. However these Garments will be sophisticated with a playful edge. I want the owner of the garment to be able to relate to the clothes and to feel that it has personality rather than a plain boring suit for example. As its important not to take yourself to seriously!

The photo shoot to the left is just a few of the photos i took to try and support my brand. They have been taken before the garments for the brand have been made (as this will be are final project later on in the year) So i focused on the face and personality of the model rather than the clothes.

Old year books and school photos was one of the main inspirations for the photo shoot. The props used were, Stick on facial hair (for a bit of humour) This was also to indicate the dressing up for work to create a powerful look. Power play! Also hats, striped shirts, ties, suit cases, brief cases and rosettes were used.

This was part of one of my first year projects. i created a pair of silk high waisted shorts with garters. i also made silk leg warmers which could be pulled up and attached to the garters. The Jacket i made wrapped around the body and was fastened by leather straps with brass buckets. it also had a hood which was attached to the high collar that could be taken off if wished by a zip.
It was inspired by straight jackets and bondage. and how the by constricting something you can crate a dis formed silhouette.

These are from 2009. They were inspired by the glamour of hunting and also the not so glamours side of hunting. I combined the two contrasts.
In the photos is the dress i made, the top of the dress is very fitted. while the bottom is a puffball effect. i also created tights with loads of hand sewn Pearl beads clustered around the ankle and working up the leg. The necklace was old glasses Lenses. which i attached together with a seres of chins. This was to illustrate the animals eyes when hit by light. Once the dress, necklace and tights were complete, and looking glamorous. I started to destroy them to illustrate the other side to hunting. i rubbed dirt into the dress and tights. i ripped the tights. and melted the necklace. i also threw red wine at the dress and sprinkled salt. this made the dye around the hem bleed into the garment. The model was also covered in coal and dirt. The lace gloves she wears has the tips of the fingers taken off.

As i also looked into roadkill (lovely i know) the set for the photo shoot was train tracks. i had the model lying across these, as if she had been hit.

The project below is also one i did last year. i looked at animal wrapping up when they sleep. and how this changes their shape completely. i created a denim jacket based on this idea. The sleeves come down to cover the hand like a glove. to create the shape of a paw. the hood has ears. and the jets in the jacket follow the rib cage. when the body moves these jets allow the jacket to fit the body and allows the jacket to twist making more of an unshapely silhouette.
